TCNC Gathering

We are planning the next gathering in North Carolina, for experienced climbers, who enjoy TRUE wilderness climbing experience.

I'm trying to determine which of the first two weekends in November would be best. Any takers?

Charlie, If this is like previous TCNC events, it's just a fun gathering. Of course, I always learn something new when getting together with a group.

Good Grief! Charlie Brown, this is a wilderness climb for experienced climbers. We will be climbing trees in the deep woods, one that is at least 80' high, 60' to the first limb, affectionatly known as the "Pee-Tree", you'd have to see it to know why.

If you find yourself or can make your way out to the west this Sept. you are welcomed to come to the Recreational Tree Climbing Rendezvous, hosted by New Tribe. The RTCR was designed to bring the tree climbing community together no matter what their climbing ability is.
Instructors and tree climbing veterans will be roaming around the site and are always available to help with any problems or questions you may have. As long as you're safe and have respect for trees ALL are welcomed. Hope to see you there.

It isn't nearly as scary as Icabod makes it sound. I've been to the Pee Tree and it's only a couple of hundred yards off of a dirt road. As Cam says, the 1st pitch is a long one, but there are lots of other accessible trees in the immediate area. If you are comfortable setting up our own climb from start to finish, I don't see why you wouldn't have a great time. The "experience" required is a pretty low threshold.

Camping near the site is primitive - no facilities of any kind, but there may be other options in the area.

I'm supposed to meet soon with Joe "Wild Bill" Maher for some training and if I survive(haha-just kidding), maybe could look forward to the other events depending on time and money.

Charlie, Peter is right. There are PLENTY of other trees in the area. I only mean that we aren't climbing in your park or backyard. Come on if you want, bring your tent, and all your gear.
