Treegirl reminded me a few minutes ago that I had not announced a "Second Saturday" wilderness climb for climbers who will be in the Atlanta/north Georgia areas this weekend.
Therefore, here it goes: All experienced climbers who have their own gear are welcome to join us for this free, climb-at-your-own-risk event in the north Georgia mountains on Saturday, Feb. 11.
We will meet at 9 a.m. at a slightly different location this time -- the McDonald's restaurant at the intersection of Georgia 400 and Georgia 53 in Dawson County. The restaurant is on the west side of the highway and is one traffic light north of the giant North Georgia Outlet Mall in Dawsonville.
The weather forecast for the area calls for partly cloudy to mostly cloudy skies with a morning low around 30 degrees and an afternoon high around 45 degees Fahrenheit. Dress appropriately for the weather.
And, don't forget the Tree Climbing USAs "Second Sunday" open climb from 2 p.m. to 5 p.m. the next day, at Lake Horton in Fayette County, about a half hour south of downtown Atlanta.
