The Georgia tree climbing competition will be on March 10th. This is where professionals compete in four events:
1. Throw line. Setting throw lines on tagged branches.
2. Aerial tree rescue. Bringing down a dummy in less than 5 minutes.
3. Work climb. Touching different tagged points in a tree while under the clock.
4. Speed climb. Timed climbing up a rope to ring a bell.
The winner gains a title, prizes, and goes to the Southern Chapter of the ISA to compete for a chance to go to the international ISA competition held annually- this year in Hawaii.
Come out and watch this event if you want to see top climbers using cutting edge tree climbing technique. You’ll see all kinds of gear (which must be approved before use to meet safety requirements) and some really fine tuned tree movement. For complete information go to the web site. Apply now if you want to compete. You really need to be a professional with high levels of skill to even think about taking part as a competitor.
