Hi, Tim--

I'm looking forward to seeing the pix, but the link asks for a password; can you open it up?

Thanks!

Jim

BTW, your mood is "shaka?" I'm probably *way* too old to understand, but am interested.
:-)

Peace.

Jim

what sort of tree is that Graduation Tree?
It is quite striking~! Are the branches strong enough to move outwards very far?
What are its girth and height, if you happen to know?

The Graduation Tree is a ceiba (or kapok)
and this particular tree is roughly one hundred and seventy-five feet in height. The main limb divergence is just above one hundred feet. I have had as many as eight climbers grouped at the main divergence at one time. It is huge. The limbs are quite large and, yes, it is quite possible to go out on them quite a distance from the center of the tree. I have now made over a dozen climbs into this particular tree and there are still many limbs and places in its canopy which I have not visited.

On the downside, there are a lot of sharp spines protruding from many of the limbs. If you are not alert to their presence, a climb in the tree can become quite painful. After my first climb in a ceiba (not this one) I came to the ground with bloody hands and knees. That tree was subsequently named El Arbol de Dolor---The Tree Of pain!
