A group of work and rec climbers got together last weekend for a Connecticut climb. Had a good snow overnight before the climb which really prettied up the woods. Sun came out a little bit enough to make us warm and toasty before it went back behind the snow clouds.
Set up a highish SRT traverse between two decent sized tulip poplars and did a little sky crawling. My foot slingshot was used to send the bag across, one shot got it. Traverse line was anchored by a climber in the destination tree, 200' rope was pulled across, the starting end over a high limb on the first tree and anchored at the base of the same tree (just enough rope to do one wrap and tie off). Reason for rigging this way was to allow the traverse climber to untie the line at the end of the traverse, then descend on their own rope. The traverse rope could then be pulled down from the base of the start tree without anyone having to climb back up to release.
Sky crawling at approx. 110'
Best practices for winter wear in trees
