Urban Ponderosa Pine Climb was created by Holden
I'm on the local school board, and managed to get the Superintendent to allow me to climb a tall Ponderosa Pine on one of the elementary school's grounds. I installed a marker at the top (125 feet up) for "back to school" this year. I have a blog where I occasionally list details and photos / videos of climbs I do, and the link has photos and a video clip from the tree.

(For the record, I hadn't updated the blog in over 3 years, but I've been climbing regularly for over 5 years. The climbs listed are only the smallest fraction of the number of climbs I've done)

Hey Holden that was great that you were able to climb a tree on school property. Many People would be too afraid of the liability.

Have you ever taken any of the kids from the school climbing?

Yeah, I was very pleased/thankful that the superintendent indulged me in that. Even so, I presented her and the rest of the board with
1) A copy of the million dollar umbrella insurance liability I carry.
2) A legal release of liability document for the school district
3) A copy of my SRT training certification (Tim Kovar, what was then Tree Climbing NW (and is now Tree Climbing Planet)
4) A promise to donate to the school district $1 for every foot climbed
I definitely "padded" the proposal, but I'd been wanting to climb that tree for years, and it worked!
