Harness Attachment point was created by TreeTramp
I have been experimenting with my DbRT configuration during these snow packed days.

The attachment point to my harness places the Blake’s Hitch up the rope only as far as the length of the bridge rope so as you ascend and pull down the BH gets closer also.

If the BH were to stay up just within reach and self-advance then you can use both hands to pull down and eliminate the push up motion.

Any comments?

See you at the top,
Dan

Dan, That sounds like the more efficient way to operate. The other advantage I have noticed is that you keep all the knots from your line of pull and less likely to smack your fingers. The climber needs to be able to reach the Blake for descend and that is not that difficult to accomplish.
One thing to make sure is to be able to reach the self advancing conection or it will continue to pull up away from the climber's reach.
Weather here is nice and warm today. Ideal for climbing. Just need a couple of climbing partners and some nice trees to work on.

I use a technique for my kids to keep it easy for them and have since used if for many other people. Put a small pulley under the blake hitch and hook it to the other side of your line. As you stand on the foot loop the pulley advances the BH for you. I put an ascender on the footloop and you only have to work the BH for descent.Made it easy for my kids not to mess with a tightening prussic on the footloop and the BH. They love it and many others have tried it and like it for its simplicity, no knots to mess with on the way up. Take off the ascender and ready for descent.

dannyc, I rig my DRT the same way. I've found that ascenders work nicely even without the foot loop - less stress on the hands pulling the rope down, but why not use the loop anyway. Leg muscles are bigger than arm muscles!

We use ascenders in rescue haul systems a lot. Combining them with a foot loop creates what we call a pump-system to raise heavy loads on a 3 or 4:1 using double prussics as the locking/rachet mechanism. This system works great when manpower is limited.

Here is my best rig for DdRT that is like SRT but the anchor point is your own center delta.

You go up quickly and then can imediatly descend with no change-over.

My USHBA rigged as a friction hitch that self-advances.

It is positioned above my shoulders with the yellow webbing attached to my center delta.

Pull down the lower ascender with both hands as you stand up so you get \"four-wheel drive\".

Rock the USHBA back a little to descend with the down rope held loosely to stop descent.

See you at the top.
Dan

PS I had to buy the USHBA because I love Titanium.

Treetramp, I did a minor edit to make your image display better. There is a weird aspect of the tag on the TCI board, it automatically gives you [img size=150]. This totally screws up display of the image. I deleted out \"size=150\" to allow your Ushba DRT image to display properly. -moss[img] tag on the TCI board, it automatically gives you . I still can not see the picture! But I think I remember the set up from previous get together with Treetramp. Maybe posting the outside link is an easier way to get to the photo.

Yep, I'm getting to show up then it disappears, looks like Treetramp's hosting service doesn't allow photos to be displayed on other web sites. This should work:
