Prusik cord ? was created by Nikko
Just a quick question;

I'm just putting together an order here and I was wondering if it's okay/normal to use a 8/10mm Bee-Line Prusik cord for my blakes hitch (split)tails? Or should I just stay with what I'm used to using; a normal 11/12mm climbing rope?

Thanks,
Nate

Normal climbing rope, same diameter as your main climbing rope works best for a Blakes.

My split tails are smaller diameter than the climbing rope 8 to 10 mmm works for me. On the other hand I also have some S-tails I made with Blaze and they work fine also like Moss mentioned. So your preference is the key here.
The smaller the diameter of the split tails rope, the more it grabs on your main climbing line, but do not get them too small because it is a risky situation. ( I would not use something like 6 mm rope to make a split tail.)

The Split tails that Sherrills sells are (mostly) smaller diameter than the main climbing line. (Check with them for suggestions)

I find that using the same diameter split tail as my climbing line works best for me when I use the blakes.
Smaller hitch cord tend to bind harder, and I like it better when I don't have to struggle to break it loose.
