Rope / Gloves combo with most possible friction

Fellow Climbers,

I'm a longtime free climber and independent filmmaker in central NY. I'm doing a spy comedy feature this spring and there's a small character who, essentially, lives in the trees. He exits one scene in style: running directly up a tree by pulling himself up a rope simultaneously.

The actor is quite strong and able bodied to do this, but the issue we have is will getting the right combination of rope and gloves so that he doesn't just come sliding back down. As much friction as possible.

Besides that... any other climbing glove suggestions?

The rubber palmed "Atlas" style gloves. Get them at Lowes typs stores for about $4. Rope...Any arborist rope will do. Go to Wesspur.com.

I would agree with 2chops. The rubber palm gloves have the most friction. Walmart even carries a gray colored pair. The only reason I do not like them is because when I am descending they tend to get sucked into my friction hitch.

As for the rope. Use a thicker rope maybe even a three strand rigging rope.

I've been using football wide receiver gloves, which from what I can tell, are "rubber". Not sure if it's the ideal rope though... I keep sliding back down. Am I asking for the impossible, is it the wrong rope type, or is this the wrong type of rubber glove?
