Right now, the vote is 9 against, to 5 for; not so good (or, not so bad--depending upon your point of view).
Thanks to the facilities of Excel, I just ran some numbers that I think are worth considering:
There have been 676 people who have registered for this board.
There have been 1823 posts.
Nick has made the most posts, 186 of them--over 10% (thanks!!!).
The top 11 posters have made 910 posts. That means that 1.6% of us have made 50% of the posts . . . eleven people have made half of the contribution.
The top 51 posters (7.5% of us) have made 90% of the posts.
How many have not posted even once? 504 of us; that's 75%.
66 of us have made only 1 post. Add that to those who have never posted, and we have only 16% who have posted more than once.
What's my point? It seems to me that, considering the low levels of participation (maybe I should say "contribution" rather than "participation") by the great majority, (sounds like life in general, doesn't it), it truly seems to me that the way for TCI to raise some money is NOT by charging for this board.
Two more thoughts:
--What about income from TCI training: does that not support the organization?
--It has been mentioned that $20 a year will provide much support to TCI; but it's $20 for the first year, and then $10/yr thereafter.
Ten bucks a year from how many--all those who have posted more than once? That's about $1000 per year. Whose salary will that pay?
There's gotta be a better way, folks.
Peace.
Jim
