RTC Resolutions for 2006 was created by jimk123
I've started thinking about my 2006 resolutions for tree climbing.

*Deepen my awareness and procedures for safe climbing.
* Climb more than 2005
* Do more TIP advancements in the canopy.
* Take a book with me
* Meet new climbers
* Return safely to the ground on each and every climb.

Interesting post JimK...
Line item #6 would imply that not all your landings have been “soft landings”. ;)

Tree climbing resolutions for 2006?
Hmm, this thread might be getting quite busy in the next few weeks!

Electrojake,

For the record, I've never had a problem returning safely to ground. The purpose of stating as a resolution was to keep it that way!

I set some goals last month. Then I considered that returning safely to ground needed to be the number one goal followed by the others. As a result, I always state it.

JimK,
Yes, understood.
Safety is indeed always a good climbing partner.
I was speaking about item #6 in jest. <the smiley face>

I feel your idea of starting a thread of “climbing resolutions” is a good idea for the TCI members to add on to.

One of my resolutions for 2006 is to do a 3 pitch climb while blindfolded.
I accomplished a 2 pitch climb blindfolded this year.

What an unforgetable experience of connecting with the spirit of the tree.
Very humbling.

What an excellent exercise. I've been thinking that I'd like to bring a visually impaired climber into a tree. A tree well known can be climbed blindfolded. A good resolution for 2006 would be to facilitate some climbs for blind or visually impaired persons.

Moss-
It is ALWAYS a pleasure to take a visually impaired person or blind person into the treetops. They come out of the tree with all kinds of words of wisdom about the tree and its character. If you get a chance let them "lead" your ears and nose to what they are experiencing. The sounds we miss as we climb or the warmth of the sun on the back of our neck as we pass by the shadows of the branches are just a couple of statements from past climbing friends.
Hope it works out for you. Be sure to let us know when this happens.
If I can be of any assistance please contact me. There are a few precautions you may want to be aware of.

My resolution is to get the tree climbing book out in 2006. The first rough draft is done but there is still much more work ahead. Bryan Kotwica has started the illustrations. I am hopeful.

Good luck with the visually impared. They see in ways an able body does not. Try to get a breezy day so they can "see" the tree as they climb higher.

Waving from a treetop,
