I recently injured my back somehow digging with a post hole digger and have been out of the trees for 3 weeks. So I finally tried climbing after medication, Doctor's visit and a slow recovery and I was happy to notice that the climb improved my spirits and made me feel better. Even though my back is still sore and in some pain just thinking about going back to the trees makes me feel alive.

I had the same benefit. I have 2 slipped disc's. I'm told that climbing streches the spine spacing the discs allowing the cartlidge more space and allowing the serible fluids to flood the ares that it should. Excuse the spelling mistakes a doctor I am not :D

Bad Back? Back Pain?
I’m surprised to see the topic mentioned here!
It’s good to see that I’m not the only climber with back problems.

Over your lifetime the effects of “work” are cumulative. You work hard, you spend 30 years lifting, carrying, and dragging things that weigh more than you do, and eventually you run out of “back”.

I was in my mid 40’s the first time I broke down in pain. I went to the doctor and informed him that my situation was unacceptable. Severe back pain was for wimps and old women. I told him that I needed to get fixed and get back to work! I soon found out that back injuries are not that simple.

I recovered but it took about two years of me getting re-injured for my brain to get the message: “Slow down, lighten up!” Not an easy transition although eventually I did adapt. The days of “sucking it up and working through the pain” are gone for me.

Take care of that back!
Save it for a nice therapeutic recreational climb. :)

I have had back pain (minor and annoying) for several years. I noticed that after taking the BTCC that my back did not hurt at all for several days. This was amazing and it is really great to hear that others have noticed the same benefit.

I ordered and received my gear about two weeks later and have been trying to climb every day. My back pain has not yet returned.
