It's been quite a while since I've checked in with this list - I hope you all are well.
I am writing to ask if there are any climbers in my neighborhood (the NW corner of WA state) who would be willing to talk to a local reporter here who is wanting to do an article for our local paper (the Skagit Valley Herald) on recreational tree climbing.
Last spring I had a "work" climb in which I installed a camera in a large Great Blue Heron colony in the area, which broadcasts to a nearby park visitors' center (and hopefully soon to the web). This year I climbed up again to clean the camera lens/housing in preparation for the herons' annual return. The reporter covered that story, which is where I met her. She asked me about how I got interested in climbing, and I gave her the short version, how I had started climbing recreationally after taking the basics course with TCI, etc.
Turns out she is very interested in recreational tree climbing (she has a friend involved commercially, somehow) and would like to do an article. So if anyone is interested in participating, send me a message or give me a call - 206-784-5736.
Thanks all,
Chris Ringo
