new tree climber from bham, al

Hello treeclimbers,

Just wanted to introduce myself. I'm Kevin Russell from Birmingham, AL, actually Homewood, AL, a city just over Red Mountain from Bham. I've been interested in climbing trees and finally made the plunge graduating from the TCI's Beginners Class and Rigging Class a few hours ago. What a fantastic experience!!!! Temps in the 80s, the finest instructor, Peter(Treeman), another great instructor and tree climber, Murv, two beautiful white oaks, and two wonderful other students, Electrojake and Bill Brazeal, made for a perfect weekend.

If anyone is interested in exploring the trees of Birmingham, please let me know. In my neighborhood alone there are numerous oaks, pecans, pines, gums, and other trees waiting to be explored. Since I'm so new, I'd love to have an experienced climber explore and climb these trees with me. I also travel quite a bit to Foley, Alabama and know of numerous trees there also waiting to be explored. Please contact me or post if anyone is interested or in proximity of these locations.

Congratulations on Completing your initial Class with the Master! It is all up trees from now on! Have fun and enjoy your new trees.

Hope you get some local climbers in Bham to climb with you. It is more fun to climb with a friend or fellow climber specially when you are starting up.

Thanks so kindly for the invite. It's good to know climbers wherever you go, 'cos they are cool and maybe you can climb with them.
I have mostly climbed solo. I do also enjoy climbing with others. There's plenty to learn about staying safe in all settings.
I took my basic course with Genevieve in late 2003. Then I took the SRT course with Tim Kovar in late 2005.

I'm moving to Alabama in August. I've gone climbing with Dan House in Kansas City. I'm looking for a climbing person/group too (in Birmingham, AL). We should meet up for a climb.
