Learning to climb in Ohio was created by Heisey
Does anyone have contacts or information about taking a tree climbing class in Ohio? I live in north-east Ohio.
Or even Western PA?

I just ordered the DVD for beginner climbers. Would that be enough to teach myself. I'm pretty "active" and not afraid to learn. 44 yrs. old.

Thanks.

I just joined TCI and ordered the video. Maybe we could get together and assist one another.

Hello New Visitors and Tree Climbers. I suggest getting the Tree Climbers Companion book from one of the Arborist Suppliers and read it several times. The Video from Peter Jenkins is a great tool to see how things are put into practice. Read some of the old postings on this board and on the Tree Climbing Coalition site for more suggestions. If possible take a formal class or meet with fellow Rec. Climbers in PA. Be safe and enjoy climbing.

i agree about the tree climbers companion - i have it available with me at most time, i refernce the knots.

google tree climber training, i know of three in the peach state. there might be others. also contact your local arborist groups they may offer training or at the least someone to chat with.

there is nothing that can replace training with an instructor.

enjoy the trees you climb

jz

Here's a website serving the tree climbing needs of southern Ohio.

Click here for Ohio tree climbing

I've been tree trekking around Columbus for a few years now. We could get together somewhere for a demonstration climb.

I'm sorry I haven't look at this in a while. I am also located in NE Ohio and am looking for some people to learn with. I hadn't heard of the instructors down in southern Ohio, but I might be willing to go that far. Heisey and RickyGee, contact me at This email address is being protected from spambots. There's a national park extending south of Cleveland. Remind me, the determination is that climbing is ok there?

Glad to see Ohio interested in climbing. I've been at it in Columbus for a few years. Hopefull, we all can connect.
