New to the community! was created by thetangler
Greetings fellow tree lovers! I recently completed Tree Week with Tim Kovar and am really gald to know there is a group of tree people out there making connections and sharing knowledge. My climbing experience is just beginning but I have been dancing around it through horticulture and landscaping for going on 20 years. I hope to go to the rendezvous and learn more soon. I live outside of Eugene, Oregon and have many amazing firs, maples and a few oaks to explore if you are looking for climbing opportunities.

See you in the canopy!!!!

A hearty welcome to "The Tangler'.
The TreeWeek that Will and Eric attended was epic. Here is a brief description of the course written by the tangler himself.

(please..... someone ask him how he got his tree climbing name):)

So Tangler- was it your throw line or your rope?

Well, it all started back in 34' when.. No I just kept mumbling to myself 'Tangler'. Usually after I had retrieved my rope from the second anchor point. I've done alot of fly fishing so I was a bit disappointed at my line management. It was easy to lose track at first when deciding which direction to tie the B53 and keep track of both ends of the throw line and the daisy rope and... Not too bad but 'tangler' became my mantra it seemed. Tim was nice enough to let me travel quite a ways down the rabbit hole to learn for myself. The name could also suggest a spiderman-like speed and agility but that would not be me at this time. Thanks for the welcomes!

Well things do get a complicated at first but alas there is good news. It gets easier with practice. I'm sure you'll do well if you keep climbing. You'll probably be able to show us old timers a few new tricks as you go along. New climbers do that ya know as they get their own personal experience.
