I need a tree name was created by Duff
I considered using Bigleaf, but that's a bit suggestive. I also thought about using Duff, but I think that's taken (?). Suggestions?

I will tell you a story

About a lady climber named Polly - she did not have a tree name before the Colorado event. During that event she told us a story about Triskets. Thus we started to call her Trisket.

Then there was a climber in Kentucky that was known as TJ, one night he fell SOUND a sleep at the campfire. so SOUND a sleep that little rocks were piled on his forehead. Thus his name got changed to Rocky Top.

SO - if you do not find a name that you are comfortable with some of your best climbing buddies JUST MAY NAME you.:woohoo:

So - i chose mine name to reflect my roots in New Jersey even thou i do not live then any more.

a name can be anything.

enjoy the trees you climb.

Thinking about your recent climbing adventures with Nick and climbing with you in Colorado this came to mind:

Thanks, Shari. I know how people often get their nicknames—I was just being a bit tongue-in-cheek and having a bit of fun by opening up the naming process to anyone interested in playing along. I remember Polly's Triscuit story from Rendezvous.

Thanks, Andrew, but Patty tells me \"Duff\" isn't taken, so I'm taking it. Suits my cynicism. ;)

A thick duff layer gives the forest an opportunity to recycle nutrient back into the ecosystem. Or are you referring to the potential life saving effect for a climber? Good name either way.

I was just referring to the fact that it's dead foliage. Just being a smartass.

BTW, I didn't mean to sound dismissive toward your suggestion—I had considered something like that myself. I just really wanted to be Duff. OK, I don't actually want to be duff, but I will be one day ...

Duff? I may get to be the first one to actually call you that!

Karina and I were going to call you to check out some new trees we found at Topanga. We were going to go yesterday...but then there was a lil' fire!

Nick: 350,000 homes evacuated and 0% containment. Not good. Have you seen the satellite photos? http://news.search.yahoo.com/search/news?ei=UTF-8&p=satellite+california&c=&fr=&c=images

Say, what's your tree name? I would propose: lovenick. You know, like peacenik or beatnik. I guess you could call it your nickname. Har har.

Shari: No worries. ;)

BTW, where is Polly?

Not sure yet. Fingers crossed! I was just there Saturday- I actually set some fishing line in one of the trees, with intentions of coming back for a quick climb later. I'll go check it out as soon as I can!
