Recommendations for trees trimming

Do you use any hedge trimmers like these ones in your own backyard? Or do you keep this work for a professioal?
I`m asking because this year I wanna do this by my own, but not sure if that`s easy or can be done by non-profi.. Although I do tree climb a lot, I don`t know how to use these kinda tools properly.
